NOVEMBER 2025

It was a month of growth on Kit Lake. Work finally got completed. Chores were checked off. And plants grew over good fish holding areas on our lake.

Despite record cold temperatures in the middle of the month, sunrise fishing was possible. Early bird anglers waited as the sun burned fog away, shore birds began to pick, and bugs (including honeybees) began to move.

Developing weather cleared our water through the month, but it continued to fall. The conditions rewarded who searched and especially those who had previously mapped the structure of the lake. Anglers with note books, or scouting reports did well by knowing where lighter plant coverage and deeper spots were.

After checking her notes, Cassidy caught several bluegill by casting around plant life and working trout nymphs at varying speeds.

Barbara also followed her own recollections to fish. She knew that the water near Lost Net Dock was still about 7 feet deep at the edge of browning pads. With an OB’s Grassy Whistler on an 8 weight rod, she waited for the sun to warm the east facing bays, then made slow and deep presentations. Distracted by a lit-up alligator decoration she brought a 17” bass to hand.

This year’s growth of lily pads changed our normal crappie holding spots, so we will be searching for the next few months

Growth on Kit Lake included a new nest in the tree beside the ramp, but falling water turned some fish holding spots into birdbaths. We logged these areas in our fishing brain and will cast with hope when the situation changes.
